A Random Compilation of Thoughts.

Today has been a weird day. I set out to do this blog as a way to share mine and Andy's life with our friends and family but also to explore and share random thoughts, creations and fun facts that I appreciate. Today, I will do all of the above.

First of all, today I remember my grandfather - Jim Buechter. Thanks for being an inspiration, friend and all around great guy, Grandpa!

Today also marks mine and Andy's one month anniversary. I felt slightly silly for even celebrating but my mom assured me that everyone does it and thus I felt a little better. The past month has been full of lots of studying, many intentional drops of the words "wife" and "husband" and several complete losses of self identity as I have transitioned from Amanda Forsyth to Amanda Wendling. In another month, Andy and I will find ourselves on the road to Portland and thus facing completely new adventures.

I sat in a wonderful retreat today at work in which the below video was shared and somehow I find it fitting today. I think Andy and I, when it comes to our future, well, "we've got ourselves a game!"

A. Wendling(s)

"Once in a while, right in the middle of ordinary lives, a love story begins..."

Our love story continued on May 29th at 4:33 (thanks, Kirsten for the exact moment we became husband and wife)in the afternoon on the terrace at hotelVetro. Andy and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend with family, friends and loved ones in celebration of our marriage.

On Friday night we kicked off the weekend with a rehearsal on the terrace followed by a beautiful dinner at Brown Bottle. We couldn't have asked for a better gathering. Good food & good company!!

We then met up with more friends & family in the ped mall. After enjoying live music we headed to TCB for a night cap. Shay and I headed in relatively early in hopes of getting our beauty sleep.

I woke up with excitement on Saturday morning long before the alarm sounded. First stop, Bellisimo salon with ladies and mimosas in tow!

From there we headed to a suite at hotelVetro for makeup and watching out the window as the terrace began to be transformed. I'll pause to thank all of the ladies that were there for me throughout the day: Mom, Gma Doob, Karen, Jami, Bets, Audrey, Brie, Gripp and of course my beautiful sisters - Maggie and Shay - THANK YOU!!

At around 12:30, I headed down the terrace to see Andy. We had decided to take pictures before our ceremony so we set aside time to see each other privately before all the madness. Of all the amazing moments of the weekend - this was by far my favorite.

Once my tears were dry, we headed to take pictures with family and the wedding party. Again, I will pause to highly recommend River Cities Wedding Photography - thank you Lou and Jeremy for being more than photographers, you were truly a part of our wedding party.

Eventually, we concluded pictures, signed the marriage certificate and before I knew it I was heading down the aisle. Although our ceremony was quick, it was more than I could have ever expected. I have always been somewhat of a wedding cynic but I'm quite a sap when it comes to my own ceremony. I literally could not stop smiling!

Although the heat put a damper on cocktail hour, we re-adjusted and proceeded with dinner, drinks and dancing. Our night ended with Journey ringing in our ears...

"Some will win, some will lose, Some were born to sing the blues, Oh the movie never ends, It goes on and on and on and on, Don't stop believing, Hold on to that feeling..."

Love to all that shared in our special day,
Amanda and Andy Wendling
